zoners, a bucket list is a composition of wants and or desires not yet accomplished or done.do you have one?
for example, i would love to take a hot air balloon ride before i die. some other things i would really love to do, but because of finances, i cannot. here is just a small sample of my bucket list.
1. visit peru.
2. go abroad.
3. rock climb.
4. visit outer space.
so, share some of you desires, wishes, or wants. formalate a list and share, if you havent done so.
i would enjoy reading some of the responses. perhaps, we can make some of them happen.
dream on me blind fuckers, dream on! gizzy
1. wash my dishes,
2. get a new set for my bed, I already know what I want, just need four hundred bucks to get it.
3. live somewears with better transpertation.
4. get a computer desk so I don't have to use my dresser and bed as a desk and chair.many more
Since I'm a human who wishes she had wings, most of these will have to do with flying.
1. Go hang gliding.
2. Go parasailing.
3. Go up into space, We share that one, Carlos.
Can't think of any other ones right now, though I know I have them.
Okay, here's my list. Mostly, this is probably how it could go, though some things could happen sooner.
1. Finish my Greek lessons by Independence Day (25 March).
2. Find a local or at home job.
3. Buy some tech goodies that I want and hopefully find some that are no longer made.
4. Visit Greece and find out where I want to live.
5. while there,or even while still here, find, and hopefully spend some time with, a genuine mangas before it's too late.
6. Meet Stelios Vamvakaris and perhaps Vangelio Vamvakari if she's still living then, before coming back here.
7. Get a job in Greece and move there.
8. Become a Greek citizen so that I can stay without visa worries and so that I can take part in the political process.
9. Truly learn how to play bouzouki so I can start looking for gigs.
10. Get more in touch with my religion so that I can really start giving back to The Gods.
1. Find a job that's actually worth doing.
2. Get married to a nice girl.
3. Learn to play the penny whistle (I'm working on that one already).
4. Find a set of Uilleann pipes and learn to play.
Lol I liked the doing the dishes from a few posts back, Lol; guess one of mine would be that right now as well, Lol!
2. Get married and perhaps raise a family,
3. Sky diving (as well)
4. Bundgy Jump,
5. Visit as many other countries as I can,
Hmmm. I've never really thought of having a bucket list, but here are at least 10 things I'd like to do at some point:
* get down to and maintain a healthy weight
* have my own place or at least for this room to be set up more as a little one-room house rather than just a bedroom *smile*
* meet Benjamin Burnley of Breaking Benjamin (I don't know that I'd know what to say but that usually happens with anyone I meet face-to-face anyway; darn shyness *smile*)
* own and use a Braille printer (even one that only takes the regular-size paper)
* learn Braille in another non-English language (I've already seen Spanish, French, and Greek Braille)
* meet some of the people I only know from online
* get married and have a family
* eat or drink something fresh from a farm
* eat cooked snake, rat, or other animal not commonly eaten every day here
* get to see and possibly use an Opticon
i'd like to:
1. meet a bear.
2. fly a plane, again.
3. sleep for a week.
4. hug a lion.
5. be present at the birth of a foal.
6. publish my writings, actually i'm looking into this one seriously now.
zoners, very nice! some of us seem to have a desire to take flight! i too would enjoy sky diving. i looked into parachute diving, but i may be wrong, but, there is a weight restriction....
traveling is another one. i am thinking of moving in with my sister. this is after i pay off my credit cards. planning a trip into mexico.
did you guys know there is a group of blind folk who are part of a summer camp? they do some of these activities. even white water rafting. jumping, sky diving, some other ones. i will look up the web site and post it. dream on. dream on me zoners.
Not sure what summer camp you're talking about Carlos, though I'd love to know. I've done white-water rafting, rock climbing, and sky diving all before, and I'd do all of them again in a heartbeat. I'm back in the state where I did all three, so maybe when I get the money, I'll be able to do them again. The opportunities are around me, they're just expensive. LOL.
And, I was dreaming a little high there, so to speak, when I made my initial post. I could think of other things, just hadn't written them. However, here are two more for me.
1. Get married, and have it really be the right person, and work out.
2. Be present at the birth of a child. I've been present for death before, and now I'd like to see the other end of the spectrum of life. Since I never plan to have children myself, I hope I can be there for the birth of the children of one of my friend's.
I'll add visit Ireland, England, Scotland, Australia or New Zealand.
Oh, Uillean pipes, meeeeeee too. Anyway.
in no particular order:
1. learn to play flute, guitar and harp
2. swim with dolphins
3. go in to space
4. go sky diving
5. go to England, Scotland, Ireland, all that good stuff
6. learn Gaelic
7. Meet Maire Brennan and Enya and all those yay cool people
I can't think of any more. No worries, I will. lol
i see a trend amerging. so, for the tune of some 200,000 dollars you can go into space for all of four minutes! yes, a company out of california is promoting space travel! you also get a fab three day weekend at a five star resort, plus a mini space boot camp!
the sky diving, and para jumping runs for about three to four hundred dollars.
perhaps, we cannot afford those things, but the family aspect of our bucket list can be achieved rather cheaply.
here are some other things.
take a vision quest.
do payote.
visit area 51.
attend the gay parade in san fransico.
attend a congressional meeting.
visit the grand canyon
ok here goes
visit alaska, which I'm doing this spring.
go out in to space
meet some of the guys from deadliest catch
visit seattle
write a book
grow an herb garden
swim with dolphins
go to one of those fancy resorts on the beach where you drink adult beverages with umbrellas, eat good food, swim in warm water, and lie in slothful abandon under a palm tree reading stupid insipid and totally wasteful romances. and not to feel guilty about it.
http://www.oralhull.org/news/
this is a website for summer, and adventure outings for the blind and their families. check it out.
forgot to add. in key west you can swim with the dolphins. in miami the lighhouse for the blind have several programs for the blind. they teach you how to sail, and water ski. this is just some f y i. dream on me zoners. dream on
Well the penny whistle for me is probably the most achievable, partly because whistles aren't that expensive but also because of the totally accessible CD course from musicfortheblind.com. And while a full set of Uilleann Pipes is less expensive by far than I was expecting, it's still upwards of two grand. And as yet there's no totally audio driven course as to how to play them. And realistically I don't think I live in a good situation for that. I live in a studio apartment in Idaho Fixed Income Housing and I don't think my mostly elderly neighbors would appreciate hearing me attempt to practice even a set of Uilleann Pipes, much less, say, a set of Highland Bagpipes. But both are intriguing enough instruments that I wouldn't pass up a chance to even get a look at them even if not learn to play.
Okay. Here's mine. By the way, for the original poster, did you get the idea from the movie? lol.
1. spend time with all of my loved ones
2. get in touch with old lost friends
3. forgive the people who have done me wrong, and sincerely appologize to those I've hurt
4. become a successful massage therapist
5. have a life-long marriage
6. spend an entire week worry free in every way
7. buy and maintain a simple, yet comfortable house
8. meet some or all of my online friends
9. spend at least a weekend having as much fun as possible with those I care about
10. discover/see something that has never been seen before
11. go sky diving
12. face and conquer my fears
13. write a book that will be published
14. participate in competitive sports
15. save a person/animal's life
16. be present at an important world event
Everything below 10 are just things I would like to do if I had the time, given the chance. Everything above 10 are things that I will really work hard to achieve.
Get a job
Go to the Harry Potter theme park
Train my own guide dog
meet an online friend (specific one, but it's none of your business who.)
teach and continue to study philosophy.
understand as much history as possible.
